Sim1-iCre mice are generated by knocking an IRES-iCre cassette downstream of the TGA stop codon in the mouse Sim1 gene via genome editing, enabling iCre recombinase (codon-optimized Cre) expression driven by endogenous Sim1 regulatory elements. The expression pattern of iCre recombinase mirrors that of the endogenous Sim1 gene. When crossed with mice containing loxP sites, Cre-mediated recombination between loxP sites is expected to occur in Sim1-positive cells of the offspring.
