The vav guanine nucleotide exchange factor 1 (VAV1) gene is a member of the VAV gene family, and the proto-oncogene vav proteins encoded by it are guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) for Rho family GTPases that activate pathways leading to actin cytoskeletal rearrangements and transcriptional alterations. The VAV protein is a member of the Dbl family of guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEF) for the Rho family of GTP binding proteins. The protein is important in hematopoiesis, playing a role in T-cell and B-cell development and activation.
This strain carries a mouse Vav1 gene promoter-driven improved Cre (iCre) expression element insertion. When H11-Vav1-iCre mice are crossed with mice containing loxP sites, Cre recombinase-mediated loxP site sequence recombination is induced in the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) of the offspring. The homozygous H11-Vav1-iCre mice developed normally and were fertile.
