CLEC4F (C-Type Lectin Domain Family 4 Member F) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein member of the C-type lectin superfamily. Studies have shown that CLEC4F is a highly glycosylated membrane protein co-expressed with F4/80 on Kupffer cells (KC) and mCLEC4F was detected in the fetal liver at embryonic day 11.5 (E11.5). Kupffer cells are resident macrophages in the liver that participate in iron metabolism and the clearance of gut-derived microbial products.
This strain was constructed using gene editing technology. The “IRES-iCre” cassette was inserted 60~100 bp down stream of the TAG stop codon. When crossed with mice containing loxP sites, the offspring can produce sequence recombination between loxP sites mediated by Cre recombinase in KC cells. The homozygous Clec4f-iCre mice are viable and fertile.
