Car10, also known as chromatin-associated RNA 10 or chromatin-associated RNA Intergenic 10, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA). LncRNAs play crucial roles in various biological processes, and Car10 is involved in multiple cancer-related pathways. It has been associated with cervical cancer, lung adenocarcinoma, melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer, and may contribute to tumorigenesis through different molecular mechanisms [1,2,3,4,5].

In cervical cancer, Car10 is significantly increased in tissues and cells. It acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to upregulate the expression of 3-phosphoinositide-dependent protein kinase 1 (PDPK1) by sponging miR-125b-5p, promoting the proliferation of cervical cancer cells [1].

In lung adenocarcinoma, Car10 is upregulated in tumor tissues, enhancing tumor metastasis. It induces epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) by binding with miR-30 and miR-203, regulating the expression of SNAI1 and SNAI2, and also promotes angiogenesis by mediating nuclear LDHA to epigenetically regulate VEGFA/C [2,5].

In melanoma, Car10 is upregulated, and its knockdown suppresses cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro and attenuates tumor growth in vivo. It promotes melanoma progression by suppressing miR-125b-5p to induce RAB3D expression [3].

In non-small cell lung cancer, Car10 is upregulated and promotes cell migration and invasion by modulating the miR-892a/GJB2 pathway [4].

In conclusion, Car10, as an lncRNA, plays oncogenic roles in multiple cancers, including cervical cancer, lung adenocarcinoma, melanoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. Through various ceRNA mechanisms and interactions with miRNAs and downstream target genes, it promotes cancer cell proliferation, metastasis, and angiogenesis. Functional studies using knockdown (akin to loss-of-function experiments) in cell lines and in vivo models have revealed these critical roles, providing potential molecular targets for cancer treatment.
